JOB SUMMARY
Supervise activities of Server Application Specialists and the implementation of new and existing enterprise level server software for the Information Technology (IT) Department, plan, assign, and review workload, establish guidelines and milestones for new and existing projects, and review business systems and identify customer needs under general supervision. TYPICAL CLASSIFICATION ESSENTIAL DUTIES

- Supervise server-based software support, maintenance, upgrades, and daily operations, including routine helpdesk calls, server and database upgrades and enhancements, and complex application software problems.
- Plan and manage the activities of assigned staff, prioritize and assign tasks and projects, train and coach staff, monitor work, develop staff skills, and evaluate performance, and review the work of staff to assure the work quality and timely completion of assigned duties and responsibilities.
- Provide application support, server and security updates, and system reviews and monitoring.
- Plan server support activities and projects to assure accomplishment of goals and objectives.
- Supervise and schedule security audits, test new and existing software applications, enhancements, and updates, and plan current and future workload to meet operational goals and assure operational continuity.
- Supervise the integration of enterprise-level software, migrations from older software applications to newly acquired software, and migrations from older versions of servers to newer versions.
- Provide high-level project management, coordinate project schedules, tasks, and milestones, provide technical lead on high priority/profile projects, coordinate vendor schedules and activities.
- Serve as subject matter expert to assure that IT proposals meet system guidelines and needs and prepare special and recurring reports and proposals for projects, hardware, software, and other server application development plans.
- Assure the integrity, security, and effective performance of County server applications.
- Collect Managing For Results (MFR) data and create reports on achievements and objectives.
- Manage budget and expenditures, approve requests for software, supplies, and equipment, compile and analyze a variety of reports and usage statistics, and review and approve administrative forms.
- To promote and adhere to the workplace values of accountability, commitment, and teamwork to help enrich lives beyond expectation.
- Maintain absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, customer records, and restricted County information.
- Perform other related duties as required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Seven (7) years of experience in network server applications support.
- Or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience may substitute for the minimum requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Arizona residents must have an Arizona Driver’s License upon hire; newly established Arizona Residents must have one within 30 days of hire.
- Knowledge of project management principles, tools, and techniques.
- Knowledge of existing Pinal County software applications, hardware, and infrastructure, including maintenance and integration issues.
- Knowledge of principles of IT infrastructure system development and systems integration in a public sector environment.
- Knowledge of management principles for network operating domains, database systems integration, and documentation of data sets
- Skill in analyzing IT project issues, evaluating alternatives, and recommending methods, procedures, and techniques for resolution of operational issues.
- Skill in initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, controlling, and closing IT projects.
- Ability to work independently in a technical environment with interlinked and changing priorities.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The work is light and requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects. The work also requires the ability to finger, grasp, handle, perform repetitive motion, hear, speak, walk, and demonstrate mental and visual acuity.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed in a dynamic environment that requires the ability to be sensitive to change and responsive to changing goals, priorities, and needs.
The hiring salary for this position is dependent upon experience, qualifications and position funding; starting salaries above the midpoint require additional approval.
