Application Tips
JOB SUMMARYPerform clerical and bookkeeping work involving research and processing of accounts for tax payments, review and enter data, and process transactions to meet the statutory responsibilities of the County Treasurer and ex officio Tax Collector. Provide customer services with significant time devoted to counter and phone customer interaction under basic supervision. TYPICAL CLASSIFICATION ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Process tax payments and invoice requests and perform duties within scope of authority and training and in compliance with County policies and quality standards.
- Conduct special research and analysis projects, summarize data, and generate reports.
- Check tax documents for validity and accuracy of information, research and clarify payment requests, perform mathematical calculations, record, file, sort, and distribute related paperwork and documents, and report discrepancies.
- Maintain bookkeeping records and filing systems, enter data into computer systems, process transactions, and update tax accounts.
- Provide customer services, respond to requests for information, and attempt to resolve them by researching files and records within the scope of authority, update, retrieve, and release information according to procedures, and refer matters requiring policy interpretation to the supervisor or manager for resolution.
- Promote and adhere to the workplace values of accountability, commitment, and teamwork to help enrich lives beyond expectation.
- Maintain absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, customer records, and restricted County information.
- Perform other related duties as required.
POSITION SPECIFIC DUTIES
- None.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Three (3) years of experience in bookkeeping and/or clerical experience.
- Or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience may substitute for the minimum requirements.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid Driver’s License with an Arizona Driver’s License required within 30 days of hire.
- This position is in the Pinal County Treasurer’s office and the duties are specifically related to the collection of Real & Personal Property taxes.
- Including cash handling and customer service.
- The Treasurer’s main office is in Florence, however, this position may require you to work at our Satellite Offices in the areas of Apache Junction, Casa Grande, Maricopa and San Tan Valley.
- Knowledge of Business English, spelling, and arithmetic.
- Knowledge of clerical and office practices and procedures.
- Skill in using data processing systems and other office equipment and machines
- Knowledge of principles of record keeping and records management.
- Knowledge of techniques in data verification and data entry.
- Skill in performing mathematical calculations with skill and accuracy and maintaining electronic records and files.
- Skill in gathering data and verifying information.
- Ability to maintain accurate accounting records and identify and reconcile errors.
- Ability to provide effective customer service.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is sedentary requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. The work also requires the ability to finger, reach, perform repetitive motion, hear, speak, and demonstrate mental and visual acuity.
